HOURS
The season start date varies depending on the weather, but it typically runs from late March to early October. OBX Parasail is open seven days a week, with boat departures every hour and 15 minutes from 9 am until the final boat at 5 pm. We highly recommend making reservations in advance, as our slots tend to fill up quickly. To book your adventure, please call the Kitty Hawk Kites reservation line at 1.877.359.8449.
RESTRICTIONS
Parasailing is a beginner-friendly activity that requires no prior experience. Participants can customize their experience based on their preferences. The minimum age requirement is five years old, and the combined weight of flyers must be under 400 lbs. Whether you’re seeking a thrilling adventure or a leisurely ride, parasailing offers an accessible and exciting experience for all.
SPECTATORS
At OBX Parasail, spectators are welcome to ride the boat for a $25 fee per person. Please note that the maximum passenger/flyer/spectator body count on the boat is six until May 1st due to coast guard regulations, which includes infants. After May 1st, the total count increases to twelve. Please book your observer spot in advance as the boat fills up quick.
PHOTOS
You are welcome to take photos, however we are not responsible for equipment getting damaged or wet. We do have a photo package available for purchase.
WHAT TO WEAR
OBX Parasail recommends comfortable, loose clothing and open-toed shoes for the flight. March-May can still be chilly, be sure to dress accordingly to the weather. Keep in mind that it is about 5-10 degrees cooler once up in the air.
CHECKING IN
Arrival Instructions for Your Flight:
It is crucial to arrive 30 minutes before your flight is scheduled. Upon arriving, you will sign a waiver, watch a safety video, receive your boarding pass, use the restroom. This process must be completed before loading the boat, which takes about 30 minutes to complete. The captain enforces strict timing and will leave on schedule, regardless of your presence. Please allow extra time for busy summer traffic and the lack of parking in downtown Manteo.

RIDE TIME
From start to finish, your Outer Banks parasail experience will be about an hour or so long. Your actual flight (the time you are up in the air) will only be about 10 minutes.

Our captain and crew are well-trained by WSIA weather and equipment standards and are all CPR & First Aid Certified. We follow the guidelines of the Water Sports Industry Association.
